Zach was born April 22, 1982 in Amarillo, Texas to Kenneth J. and Katherine (Kelly) Sadau. He was raised in Dalhart, Texas, where he attended St. Anthonys Catholic School through the sixth grade and then went on to graduate from Dalhart High School in 2000. After high school, he briefly attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University before heading into the workforce.
Zach had exceptional work ethic. He did chores for his mom and worked with his dad and brother at "The Shop" as a young boy and then began mowing lawns at the age of 13. Zach obtained a hardship drivers license in high school in order to get himself to work for a year before his 16th birthday. He spent most of his teenage years working for Bezner Farms after school and during the summer months. There, he created lifelong memories as he worked side-by-side with his lifelong best friend. As a young adult, Zach spent many frigid sunrises horseback while working cattle at Hartley Feeders. Here, he learned to despise the cold weather and to avoid it at all costs. He quickly moved on to work at Foust Feed in Amarillo, Texas for several years before leaving to work for BNSF Railroad. The railroad travel kept him away from his beloved bride, so he then went to work for Transwestern Pipeline to be closer to home. He celebrated 15 years with Transwestern Pipeline in November 2022.
Zach met Meg, the love of his life, in the spring of 2003 and they were married on February 18, 2006 in Canyon, Texas. They settled in Panhandle, Texas and were blessed with two children, Benjamin and Macyn. The cornerstone of Zachs life was being a devoted husband and family man. He beamed with pride and immeasurable love for his wife and children. He was happiest supporting them while watching baseball, attending Boy Scout events and dance recitals, and helping the children with their 4-H goat projects.
Much like his dad, Zach was a hunter, a fisherman and he loved being outdoors. He was an excellent cook who mastered the craft of smoking the famous "Sadau brisket" among other things. Zach treasured lake days with friends and family, 4-wheeling in the mountains, and days spent listening to good tunes in his garage or at "The Shop". If you were Zachs friend, you were family and his loyalty to his friends was insurmountable. Zach was known for his witty sense of humor and he was quick to cause eruptive laughter whenever he was near. Without question, Zach would drop anything he was doing to help out those in need. Whether that be a friend, a friend-of-a-friend, his church family or community; he was all in. He was the epitome of a servant leader and Zach had an enormous heart for others. He especially loved children and the elderly.
Zach is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth J. Sadau, his grandparents, Albert and Lou Ella (Hanna) Sadau and grandfather, William Ryan Kelly.
Zach is survived by his wife of 17 years, Meg Sadau, of the home and his children, Benjamin and Macyn Sadau. His mother, Katherine Sadau, of Dalhart, Texas.
