Word grew up in New Mexico and moved to Dalhart in 1957 and on April 13, 1971 he married Brenda Shaw in Dalhart. Mr. Barker worked for the RR for over 45 years. He was a Member of the Rock Island Lodge #869, Khiva Shrine of Amarillo, and Scottish Rites of Lubbock.
