Willie Ethel Young, 94, died Saturday April 4, 2009 in Bedford, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, April 24, 2009 at Memorial Cemetery in Dalhart. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials are made to the Dalhart Senior Center and the Cemetery Fund.Willie Ethel Small was born in Green County, Missouri on February 4, 1915 to John William and Mary Ethel Small. She was the youngest daughter of ten children. She grew up and made her home in Englewood, Kansas until marring Kelsie V. Young on Easter Sunday March 28, 1937.Soon after their marriage, they moved to Dalhart, Texas where they made their home for next 66 years. Willie Ethel was active in her church, Central United Methodist, WSCS, Contemporary Womans Club, Coon Memorial Home Auxiliary, The Dalhart Senior Center, Cub Scouts, the PTA and many other social and civic activities.She was preceded in death by her husband, Kelsie on September 30, 2000.Survivors include three sons, Ronald of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Paul of Dodge City, Kansas and Kent of Saginaw, Texas, her brother Thomas of Wichita Kansas; 8 grand children, 20 great grand children, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
