Wilbur Bryant, 83, died on Monday, January 7, 2008 in Dalhart, Texas.Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, First Baptist Church - Hartley, TX with burial in Hartley Cemetery.under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart, Texas.Officiants were Pastor Roy Almaroad, Pastor Darren Elliott, New Life Fellowship Church, Dalhart, Texas, and Kurtis Abla, Dalhart, TexasWilbur Lee Bryant was born December 20, 1924 in Dalhart, Texas to Gardie and Myrtle Bryant. After graduating from Hartley High School, he began farming with his father. Wilbur then served in the U. S. Marines and after returning home, married the love of his life, Bobby Jeanne Carlisle of Jackson, Mississippi on Feb. 26, 1946. Wilbur and Bobby started their family as he started farming on his own. His business was corn and wheat farming, stocker cattle grazing and cattle feeding in his feedlot. He also was involved in ranching in a cow-calf operation in Laverne, OK. Wilbur enjoyed family fishing trips and the family Thanksgiving quail hunts. Wilbur was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartley where he served as a deacon for many years. He also had served as a member and past president of the Hartley ISD School Board, director and past president of the Hartley Consumers Fuel Co op, director of the Hartley County ASC Committee, charter member and past president of the Hartley Lions Club, and 50 year member of the Rock Island Masonic Lodge. Wilbur was also active in the Boys Scouts of America.Preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jody Bryant, and a grandson, Brittain Bryant.He is survived by his wife: Bobby Bryant of Hartley, TX, Sons: Steven Bryant of Hartley, TX, David Bryant and wife Kathie of Vega, TX, Jerry Bryant and wife Alesia of Laverne, OK, George Bryant and wife Cindy of Dalhart, TX, Nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, sister: Betty Hudgins of Hartley, TX, Brother: Malcolm Bryant of Amarillo, TXMemorials may be made to - The family suggests memorials to go to the First Baptist Church of Hartley or Hartley Fire Department and EMS of Hartley, TX
