Wesley James Bower, 68 of Dalhart, Texas passed away Friday July 1, 2022 after a long battle with lung Cancer. Memorial Services will be held Friday, July 8th at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillside Christian Church, Dalhart Campus; with Robert Ledbetter officiating. Wesley was born July 20, 1954 at 6:08 PM in Amarillo, Texas to James and Lee Bower. He grew up attending Sam Houston Jr high, Deberry Military Academy, and Tascosa High School. During his time at the Military Academy he won several archery awards. Wesley had an impeccable work ethic and believed In Hard work. He worked for Robert Greene Farming in Hartley, Texas, Asarco, Montgomery Wards as a mechanic, and Baldwin Trucking, until he found his true passion as an Iron Worker. He worked locally for Amarillo Steel Erectors, till he joined the 787 union hall Parkersburg, West Virginia where he worked with his uncles and cousins. He retired in 2005 due to health issues. He stayed devoted to the ironworkers till his last day. He met the love of his life and partner in crime Vicki Lynn Washburn in 1968. They married April 6, 1973 at First Baptist Church. Wesley and Vicki had four children: Joshua James, Brad Alan, Keri Lynn, and Scott Edward. His wife and children meant the world to him. He was a devoted, loving, and caring husband and father. He enjoyed the outdoors, riding go-carts, riding horses, fishing and Hunting. His Harley was more than a hobby it was a passion and made him feel free. He had a need for speed and was always the life of the party. Wesley always had animals, loved each one and would take them all in if he could have. He planted fruit trees and was so proud of the harvest they produced. He was a giving man and would give the shirt off of his back to help others. A few of his grandkids called him Papa Smurf; he loved each of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wesley is preceded in death by; his father, James Bower; and his son, Brad Alan Bower. Wesley is survived by his wife, Vicki Bower, his mom, Lee Smith of Dalhart, Son; Joshua and wife Renea Bower of Bushland, Texas; Daughter, Keri and husband Brian Banks of Wallace, Nebraska; Son, Scott and wife Stefanie Bower of Dalhart: Brother, David Bower of Panhandle; 10 Grandchildren: Sam, Lexi, Gabrielle, JJ, Sarah, Tayler , Riley, Analice, Jashua, and Mackenzie; 7 great grandchildren and 1 on the way; many cousins and great aunts and uncles all over the US and of course his fur babies.
