Wanda Weller - age 60 - died sunday, March 5, in Canyon Texas.Services were held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 9, 2006 at Lincoln Street Baptist Church. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.Officiating at the service was Bob McAlister, Pastor of the Channing First Baptist Church.Wanda Lou Weller was born on September 30, 1945 in Boise City, OK to Chris William and Audrey Viola Southern Weller. She was the youngest by eight years of four children. When Miss Weller was six months old, her family moved to a farm north of Conlen, TX. She started school in Stratford in 1952 and graduated from Stratford High School in 1964. That same year, she moved with her parents to John Colquitts farm five miles north of Dalhart.After high school graduation, Miss Weller went to work for Rita Blanca Studio in Dalhart. Good neighbors, the Bakers, began taking her and her mother to Lincoln Street Baptist Church. In 1967, they both accepted the Lord as their Savior and were baptized. Miss Weller was still a member of Lincoln Street Baptist Church at the time of her death.Miss Weller worked in the church nursery at Lincoln Street in addition to her work at the studio. When the Rita Blanca Studio closed in 1995, she went to work for the Dallam County Child Development Center at North Ward School. Miss Weller later worked at the Super 8 Motel and then provided home care services for Nurses Unlimited from which she retired in 2005. Miss Weller moved to Canyon in September 2005 after her 60th birthday to be near her sister, Anna Mae, and her extended family.Miss Weller was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dale and wife Virginia Little Weller, and her adoptive mother Sadie Bolton. Miss Weller is survived by her brother Donald and wife Betty Weller of La Puente, CA; sister Anna Mae and husband Ray L. Johnson of Canyon, TX; two nephews Lyndon C. and wife Polly Johnson of Canyon, TX and Chris W. and wife Leah Johnson of Clayton, NM; one niece Gwenda and husband P.J. Hanna of Canyon, TX; ten great nephews and nieces, Tim, Grace, Amber, Lauren, Keziah, Rebekah & Hannah Johnson; Shelby, Sadye and Parker Hanna; and one great-great nephew, Samuel Johnson.The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell Street, Amarillo, TX 79109 or to a favorite charity.
