Walter Olivarez Sr., 84, died Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in Dalhart, TX A Prayer Vigil was held at 6:00 pm Friday, November 25, 2011 at St. Anthonys Catholic Church, Dalhart, Texas Funeral Mass was at 10:00 am Saturday, November 26, 2011 at St. Anthonys Catholic Church, Dalhart, Texas with Father Scott L. Raef, Pastor officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Horizon FuneralHome, Dalhart, Texas. Walter Olivarez Sr. was born February 26, 1927 in Beeville, TX to Timoteo and Paula (Brecinceno) Olivarez. Walter grew up in Beeville. He married Herlinda Castro August 16, 1944 in Beeville, TX. He moved to Plainview in 1953 and farmed there until 1969 when he moved to Dalhart. He farmed and later went to work for the City of Dalhart for 10 years and retired at age 62. He loved his chickens and dogs and tinkering with his tools. Survivors include his wife, Herlinda of Dalhart, TX, - Son: Fidel and wife Mary Olivarez of Dalhart, TX, Daughter: Celia and husband Jessie Ortiz of Plainview, TX16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one son Walter Jr. and one daughter Rosa Arredondo.
