Velma Mae Porter, 93 - died Sunday, June 4th, 2006, in Tyler, TexasMemorial Services were held @ 11:00 am Wednesday, June 7th, 2006 at the First Baptist Church. Burial was at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 7th, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, Texas. Velma Mae Porter was born in Childress, Texas, April 22, 1913 to H.C. and Priscilla Jane Cox. Her family moved to Dalhart in 1917. She attended school in Dalhart and was a beautician at the Bowling Beauty Shop. She married Russell Porter December 31, 1933 he died on April 23, 1991. She is survived by two daughters, Beverley Beeman and her husband Larry, and Kay Beth Molone and her husband Leonard. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Bryan Robertson and his wife Jacque, Gary Robertson, Kellye Self and her husband Dave, Kay Lynn McMinimy and her husband Robert. She was blessed with seven great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.Velma was a volunteer at the Coon Memorial Nursing Home and an active member of First Baptist Church while living in Dalhart. She also volunteered at the Senior Citizens Association. She moved to Tyler, TX. in 2000 to be near her daughters.
