He worked most of his life in agribusiness.He was a U.S. Army Para-Trooper and an avid pilot. On January 14, 1949 he married LaNita Stone. He enjoyed flying, as well as horse back riding, and working on their cabin. Mr. Ames was an active member of the First Baptist Church and member & director of the XIT Rangers.
