Thomas Edwin "Big Tom" Holmlund, a still waters run deep man with a heart as big as Texas, died on June 13th,2024 in Dalhart, Texas. Born on December 26th, 1968, in Amarillo, Texas. Tom's larger-than-life presence and infectious laugh left an indelible mark on the hearts of those that knew him.

Tom spent his early years being energetic and rambunctious while seeking adventure in Texas, Colorado and California with neighborhood friends, family and classmates. He enjoyed many outdoor activities such as track, swimming, camping, boating, fishing, water and snow skiing, and bicycle and motorcycle riding. He also spent time turning wrenches on his own vehicles, a passion that came naturally to him and was further developed alongside his father. He seemed to be capable of anything and he had no fear!

After the passing of Tom's paternal grandfather, John Raymond Holmlund, he took up residence in the family homestead in Dalhart, Texas where he spent the remainder of his life making friends and cultivating relationships.

Tom worked in maintenance for Dalhart ISD before taking to the open roads with United Supply, XIT Concrete and the City of Dalhart as a Commercial Truck Driver. In addition to Tom's passion for driving big trucks was his love of riding his Harley and watching the Las Vegas Raiders, formerly known as the Oakland Raiders, and cooking for and entertaining friends. Tom was frequently seen riding his beloved Harley around Dalhart and often adventured as far as Sturgess for comradery and shenanigans with fellow bike riders.

Tom's adventurous spirit was matched by his warm heart and generous nature. He was loving, loyal, funny, intelligent and handy. He will be deeply missed by his many family members and friends. He is survived by his fiancée, Monica Johnson of Dalhart, Texas; mother, Loraine Shaw Pearson of Amarillo, Texas; his father, Daryl Holmlund and his wife, Mary Holmlund of Amarillo, Texas; his twin sister Tammy Aud and her husband, Dave Aud of Forney, Texas, and his sister Cindy Holmlund Gardner and her husband Adam Gardner of Amarillo, Texas, siblings: Jo Bascus of Amarillo, and Frank Pearson of Denver, Colorado, six grandchildren; four nephews and seven nieces.

Those who knew Tom will remember him as a man whose word was his bond, he could fix anything, speak volumes without saying a word and his hugs were healing. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the courage to seize life's opportunities with both hands.

As we bid farewell to Thomas Edwin "Big Tom" Holmlund, we celebrate his love of life. His memory will continue to inspire us to cherish the time we have with our loved ones, and to live each day as though it were our last.

A celebration of Tom's life will be 11:00am, Saturday, June 29 at New Life Church, 402 Tanglewood Road, Dalhart. Online condolences may be offered to Tom's family at www.horizonfuneral.com/obituaries.
