Ted Lenz, 78, died Sunday, August 11, 2013 in Dalhart, TexasPrayer Vigil was held at 9:30 am Friday, August 16, 2013 and Funeral Mass followed at 11:00 am at St. Anthonys of Padua Catholic Church, Dalhart, Texas Officiating - Monsignor Michael Colwell, Pastor Ted was born at home near Pomeroy, IA on September 1, 1934 to Ardyce and Adolph Lenz. He graduated from Pomeroy High School. Ted married Donna Schoon on December 28,1953. He is the father of 12 children: Greg and Christie (Lenz) Beer of Des Moines, IA. Randy and Cynthia Lenz of Dalhart, TX. Steven Lenz, deceased Brian and Cindy Lenz of Onawa, IA Chuck and Donna Lenz of San Marcos, TX Tom and Cara (Lenz) Brenza of Edgewood, NM Wade and Toni Lenz of Hartley,TX Rod and Nancy (Lenz) Walter of Kyle, TX Patrick and Renae Lenz of Dalhart, TX Cory and Beth (Lenz) Acton of Georgetown, TX Melinda Lenz Winton of Hallsville, TX Michael and Selena Lenz of White Deer, TX Ted was a family man and a great father to his children, dedicating his life and time to raising 11 children. As a young man, he enjoyed riding his Harley traveling from IA through TX on his way to CA and across the country, later he joined the US Navy and was stationed in Pensacola Florida after his service Ted began to farm in the Manson IA area. In November, 1974 Ted moved his family to Hartley TX to continue his love of farming and ranching. Ted loved the outdoors and driving the country looking at crops and cattle. Ted was a pilot and enjoyed the time spent flying and seeing the country. Ted was a Knight of Columbus taking his first degree in 1953, and was a 37 year member of the Dalhart Elks Lodge. He is survived by his wife, 11 children, 27 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren, 3 sisters and 1 brother.In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to:S.A.I.N.T.S.
