Susan Jil Hogue Clay, 79 of Amarillo formerly of Dalhart, passed away on June 23, 2023. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00am on Friday, July 14, 2023 at Central Methodist Church with Pastor Barry Walker officiating. A Private Graveside will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. Susan was born on June 27, 1943 in Carnegie, OK to Joel and Ruby Hogue. She graduated from Dalhart High School and some of her pastimes included photography, interior design and driving corvettes. Susan enjoyed being active in her community and volunteered at the Harrington House, Center City in Amarillo, and of course her church. She was a member of the Panhandle Press Association, Corvette Club of Amarillo, Theta Nu Sorority in Dalhart, Central Methodist Church in Dalhart and attended St Paul Methodist in Amarillo. Susan was known by many and will be dearly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents: Joel and Ruby Hogue; husband: Bob Clay; niece: Kristi Newman; and son in law: Neilan Hensley. Susan is survived by one son: Mark Farr and partner Cary II Cruz of New York, NY; daughter: Jil Hensley of New Boston, TX; one brother: Joel Hogue and wife Madonna; one sister: Terri Newman and husband Donald; three grandchildren: Nicole Gillen, Audrey Wilson and husband Charlie, and Cotton Hensley; four great grandchildren: Riley, Ryan, Hayes and Neiley.
