Steven Wayne Ratzlaff was born to Kenneith and Patricia Lartz Ratzlaff on November 2, 1959 at Wadena, Minnesota. He passed away at Odessa Regional Medical Center, Odessa, Texas on September 27, 2021 at the age of 61 years from multiple health complications. His childhood was spent with his family in Cimarron, Kansas and Almena, Wisconsin. During those years, he received his education at Cimarron Middle/High School and Barron Junior/High School. Later in life he completed a certified welding course. He was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on December 8, 1974 by Minister Eli Nightingale. In May of 1977, Steves family moved to Texline, Texas. Steve and his brother finished a land leveling job and joined the family 3 months later. After moving the equipment to Texas, they helped with the building site of the Texline Mennonite church. Steve was employed by Willard Grain and drove truck for many years. He loved driving truck and was often known by the nickname, "Starduster". He made many good friends during these years. He loved people and life. Steve had a good sense of humor and never met a stranger. He had a kind heart that was expressed by reaching out to others. Later in life he was employed by Ronnie and Donna Brorman, helping with the cattle and farming operation. He loved this work and developed a very deep friendship with Ronnie and Donna. In May of 2018, he suffered a life-altering accident that we called the cow wreck. He never complained and still loved to work as much as he could. During this time, we felt a sincere change in Steve. He realized the power of prayer and was so thankful for all the prayers that were prayed for him. Steve loved inspiring songs and spent many hours listening to and sending them on. He loved nature, watching the Logan sunsets and being out on Ute lake on his boat. He deeply loved his family, was a beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed.
