Shirley Ann Schroder, 74, died on Saturday, June 8th, 2019 in Dalhart, Texas. The family received friends at Horizon Funeral Home Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Services were held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Denver Avenue Church of Christ, Dalhart. Burial followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart ~ Arrangements provided by Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, Texas. Shirley Ann Strong was born November 10, 1944 in Gainesville, Missouri to Irvon Henry and Erma Edna (Pitcock) Strong. Shirley was raised in Missouri and in 1975 she and her husband Sidney Schroder packed a Uhaul and moved their 4 kids to Dalhart, Texas, a place they had never been. Shirley loved working at the Mission Twins & El Rancho Drive In. She worked for Don Gilbert running the theaters for over 20 years. Shirley was a foster parent for many newborns for High Plains Childrens Home. A dedicated member of the Church of Christ all of her life, she loved attending services and singing hymns. Shirley loved gardening and growing flowers as well as cooking, she excelled at both and was always willing to share her treasured recipes with her daughters and granddaughters. The most important things in her life were her love of Christ and her family. She was the best sister, mom, aunt, Nana and friend. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Sidney, her parents and many aunts and uncles. Shirley is survived by her four children: Lisa and husband Brian DeMots, Judi and husband Frank Weaver, Darla Schroder and David and wife Judy Schroder; a brother, Don and wife Marrita Strong of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters, Linda Goodman of Dalhart, Texas and Jan and husband Howard Atherton of Essex, Vermont, grandchildren; Marlee DeMots of Amarillo, Texas, Michael and wife Jaklyn DeMots, Mason DeMots, Christa Weaver, Kerstin, Madison and John David Schroder all of Dalhart, Texas, great-grandchildren; Kadance, MaKayla, Preston, Austyn and Ozzy The family requests memorials be sent to the local cancer charity, The Twilight Fund, P.O.
