San Juanita Hernandez, 101 of Dalhart, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 2:00PM on Monday, January 24, 2022 at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father Lawrence John celebrating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 1:30PM on Monday at the church. Ms. Hernandez will lay in state on from 3:00 until 6:00PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home. San Juanita was born on April 25, 1920 to Jose Maria and Vicenta Hernandez in Osage City, KS. San Juanita was a fierce woman and believed in working hard for everything she had. She was very wise and a faithful woman who loved God and held her dedication to the Virgin Mary. San Juanita was a devoted member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She was a mother, an aunt, a sister, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, and blessed to also be a great-great-grandmother who lived a full life giving all her attention to what mattered most to her which was family. She was someone who you could count on for help and was always more than willing to do so. San Juanita loved her siblings dearly and it was evident that they loved her too. She enjoyed more than anything singing and dancing. It brought so much joy to her and anyone around her. She cherished the time spent with family and loved her children, grandchildren, nephews, and nieces very much. She led a long and beautiful life. Her family legacy will continue to flourish and the memories will be shared for many years to come. San Juanita will truly be missed by all who she blessed with her presence. She is preceded in death by her parents: Jose Maria and Vicenta Hernandez; one daughter: Epimeia Melendez; one son: Juan Melendez; four sisters: Isabela (Chavela) Hernandez, Anastacia Gomez, Carolina Fuentes, and Jesus (Chuy) Hernandez; and three brothers: Mike, Guadalupe and Jose Hernandez; one great-grandson: Omar Lee Williams San Juanita is survived by her children: Fidel Melendez and wife Virginia of Dalhart, Linda Arguello of Dalhart, Julie Medina and husband Juan of Elkgrove, IL, Arthur Villarreal and wife Mavy of Amarillo, and Vanessa Mariscal and husband James of Dalhart, and Yolanda Arguello of Dalhart; 17 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and 14 great great-grandchildren.
