Ruth Powell, 89, died Thursday, January 7, 2010 in Dalhart, TX. Funeral Services were held at 10:00 am Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Lakeview United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Phillips officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery. Eva Ruth Caughron was born October 29, 1920 in Ballinger, Texas to Augustus and Maude (Jones) Caughron. Ruth married W.F. (Red) Powell on March 19, 1939. They moved to the Dalhart area in the early 50s. Red died in 1987. Ruth was a member of the Lakeview United Methodist Church and was Co-Director of the Good Samaritan in Dalhart. She spent a lot of her time doing volunteer work that included meals on wheels, Girl-scouts and the Good Samaritan. Ruth was preceded in death her parents, and her husband, 3 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Doyle of Wentsworth, MO. A sister Ruby Weatherford. Numerous Nieces and nephews including her care givers Loretta Hooser and Dora Parker. Her grandchildren Harvey and Gary Jones and Mellanie Hooser.
