Ruth Robertson Nichols, 90, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020 in Amarillo, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas. Ruth was born Sunday, June 15, 1930 in Nara Visa, New Mexico to Millie (Davis) and Benjamin Robertson. Ruth loved to dance, both Country and Square dancing, Alan and Angie fondly remember going to community dances with their parents as children and making a pallet on the floor with their coats in the winter and going to sleep in the car in warm weather, after playing hard with all the other children. She was an excellent seamstress, making beautiful square dance dresses and matching shirts, as well as, making most of the clothes for her children when they were young, including several prom dresses. Ruth loved working in the public and worked in the meat market for Morman's Grocery; first in Cactus, TX for a short time and then later in Dalhart. She worked and managed the Blue Stamp and Green Stamp Stores in Dalhart and was a Bell Telephone Operator in Dalhart and then Amarillo after the one in Dalhart closed. She loved getting together with family and of course there were always lots of card games going on and lots of jokes and laughter. Their seemed to be a laughing contest going at Robertson family get togethers of "on who could be the loudest". Ruth is survived by her son, Alan Newman and wife Marilyn of Forgan, OK, Alan's daughter, Timarra Monroe and husband Monte of Yukon, OK, Timarra's children; Kelsey, Koby and Blake as Grandchildren and a Great Grandson Bentley, Alan's son Kurt Newman and wife Paulette of Denton, TX, Kurt's children; Sabrina, Alyssa and Sebastian, Alan's son Benjamin Newman of Edmond, OK, Benjamin's children; Ian and Maxie, Alan's step-son, Troy Shook of Sayre, OK, Troy's children, Alex and Caleb, Ruth's daughter, Angie McClellan of Amarillo, TX Angie's daughter, Stephanie Urban of Van Alstyne, TX, Stephanie's children; Madeline and Blaine, Angie's daughter, Susan Ridge and husband Brad of Phoenix, AZ, Susan's son, Colton Sandoval of Amarillo, TX, siblings; sisters, Leona Holland, Colleen Alls, Sue Robertson and brother, Ralph Robertson. Also, her long-time companion and dance partner Billy Broaddus of Vega, TX. Preceded in death by her parents, brother Benjamin Robertson, Jr, Grandson, Alan Loy Newman and husband, John Lamberger.
