Roy Lee Brown, 73, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021 at home with his family in Dalhart, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Dalhart, Texas with burial to follow in Channing Cemetery.
Roy was born Thursday, June 12,1947 to Robert Lee Brown and Patsy Ruth (George) Brown in Dalhart, Texas. Roy served in the United States Army as a Specialist 4, stationed in Anchorage, Alaska at a missile site. Roy was a member of the PRCA and an active participant in rodeos locally and throughout many states for most of his life. He rode bulls, saddle broncs and bareback; rodeo was his lifes love. He was also a very talented artist. Roy made many chaps, spurs and carved wooden cowboy life figures, horses and bulls. He will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved him.
Roy is survived by his sister: Linda Amason, who was by his side every day taking care of him, his children: Leigh, Kelly and Matthew, five grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Way and all of the Coon Memorial staff. The family would also like to thank the nurses of BSA Hospital, Dr. Paul Zorsky and Tonia Tolley of the Harrington Cancer Center in Amarillo, Texas.
