Ron Hein of Dalhart, TX, finished his race here on earth and went to spend eternity with Jesus on 12/2/21.
What a life he lived! What a life we celebrate, knowing he is in the arms of His Savior! He is right where he served his whole life to be. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Our dad loved his family. He loved people. But, most importantly, he loved the Lord. He loved serving others with a Christ-like love and truly devoted his life to sharing Gods love with others.
During his childhood, he spent time on his grandmothers farm, with his Uncle Al Hunt, living true to the nickname, Buck, his uncle gave him. In 1961, he met the love of his life, Terri, on a ski bus, playing penny poker. She had won so many pennies that he had to help carry her winnings off the bus, thus securing their life together. They were married on August 14, 1965, and spent 56 blessed years together, raising 4 children, loving on 6 grandchildren, and snuggling 3 great grandchildren.
As his children, we have fond memories of riding behind our dad on his motorcycle all over town, even being picked up from school with helmets in hand. Our dad loved to be at home in Dalhart, but knowing our mom loved to travel, he traversed all over the world with his family, making memories and enjoying life, including a foot race across Disney World with his grandson on his shoulders, fishing in Alaska on the Kenai River having "the best time ever," and tubing at the young age of 75 on a frigid lake in SD. He loved to see "pa-diddles" when traveling so that he could lean over and kiss our mom. For years, our parents led Boy and Girl Scouts, ensuring that kids learned important life skills along the way, including how to strap yourself and friends to a long rope while walking through the canyon just in case you fell off a cliff, and how to build the coolest Pinewood Derby cars imaginable. Memories of the loud words, "Go Straight!" reverberate in our minds, as he was the bike-riding-teacher for the grandkids, teaching each how to be strong and determined. He most recently served as Hospice Chaplain, supporting others through their journey, after spending 28 years on the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department, serving the community he loved, surrounded by people he loved.
Our dad supported his family throughout his life as a butcher, a mailman & assistant postmaster, and a dispatcher at Rita Blanca Electric Cooperative. He instilled in each of his children a love for the Lord, an impeccable work ethic, and a joy for life.
Most days of late you could find our dad down at the fishing pond picking up the area, fishing for the big one, sharing fishing hints that included gummy worms, filling bird feeders outside of Legacy Assisted Living, visiting patients that were homebound, and cheering at his grandkids games and events.
The folks that will miss him here on earth until we see him again in heaven include our mom, Terri Hein, his kids and their families, David & Stefanie Hein of Snohomish, WA, and their daughters Mackenzie and Sarah, and granddaughter Brynlee; Mark & Christine Scroggs of Umbarger, TX, and their kids and grandchildren, Justin & Ariana Gaddy, with Jace & Emberleigh; John & Michelle Hein of Amarillo; and Joe & Stephanie Gaines of Dalhart, with their children, Madison, Joseph, and Emily; sister Maret and her husband Michael of Ypsilanti, MI.
In lieu of flowers, we would love for you to consider giving to the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department, the Twilight Fund, or the Strike Out Cancer Fund.
Thank you for your prayers, love, texts, calls, sweet memories, and visits during this time. Each of you are a true blessing!
"I have fought the good fight to the end, I have run the race to the finish, I have kept the faith: all there is to come now is the crown of righteousness reserved for me, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on the day; and not only to me but to all those who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
