Robert Glen Green Jr. 63, died Sunday, November 9, 2008 in Amarillo, TX.Services were held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the Hartley High School Auditorium in Hartley, Texas. Burial was in Hartley Cemetery, Hartley, Texas.Horizon Funeral Home - Dalhart, Texas.Robert Glen Green Jr. was born October 18, 1945 in Amarillo, TX to Bobby Glen Sr. and Jackie Kinard Green. Robert attended school in Hartley before completing his high school education at the New Mexico Military Institute. He then earned his Bachelor of Science degree at West Texas State University with a major in Social Science and pre-law and did his post graduate work in Business Administration. On February 3rd, 1967 Robert married Elizabeth Ann Crownover in Hill Chapel at West Texas State University Campus. Mr. Green was a member of the National Executive Institute of Boy Scouts of America, Sigma Nu Fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity and the historical honor society Phi Alfa Theta. A US Veteran, Robert attended Naval Officers Candidate School in New Port Rhode Island and was honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1968.His service to his community and the Texas panhandle includes: Member Hartley ISD School board as board member and President, Former Dalhart Area Chamber of Commerce Board Member, Former President Hartley Water Board, member of the Hartley Cemetery Association, member of Board of Deacons, First Baptist Church and Former Chairman. Robert also served as board member Texas Rural Communities and board member Heartland Lloyd Insurance Company, and member of the TDA advisory Council.His service beyond the panhandle included being appointed and serving on many boards including - District I Director, State Secretary, and State Vice President of the Texas Farmers Union. National Grain Sorghum Producers Association Board member-Legislative Vice-President, member of the Texas Grain Sorghum Board, past president of the Texas Grain Sorghum Producers Association. County representative for the Texas Wheat Growers Association, Chairman District I Ag Advisor Board Texas Department of Agriculture, Texas-Israel Exchange Board Member, Chairman Crops Committee, Mexico Texas Exchange Board MemberRobert had been recognized for his outstanding service in many ways including Professional Whos Who in executives and professionals 1998-1999: Five separate times he was honored for Service to the State of Texas and Agriculture. He was appointed Admiral of the Texas Navy by Governor Dolph Briscoe. A life long Activist in the Democratic Party he served as vice chair AG Caucus Texas and Chair Hartley County Democratic Party.He is survived by his wife Ann of Hartley, Texas - a daughter Marsha and her husband Greg Wright and their children Tyler, Tanner and Taylor. 2 sons: Brad and his wife Camilla and their daughter Kennedy, and Glen and his wife Tammie and their Children, Robert Glen IV, Bobbie Ann, Michael, Jordan , Nicole and Jessica and a stepson: Anthony. He is also survived by his father Bobby Glen Sr. and his sister: Cheryl and her husband Neal of Amarillo, TXRobert is preceded in death by his mother Jackie Kinard Green.
