Richard Howerton, 79, died Saturday, September 22, 2012 in Spokane, WAA Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the First Christian Church with Stan Howerton, officiating. Richard R. Howerton was born June 24, 1933 in Dalhart, TX to E. Ronald and Claire (Mitchell) Howerton. He played baseball for the Dalhart Wolves and the XIT Rangers. Richard graduated from Dalhart High School in 1951. He attended college in Greely Colorado before joining the US Navy. On August 22, 1987 he married Carol Parker in Spokane, WA. Mr. Howerton retired from the US Navy after 20 years of service. His hobbies included bowling, visiting, and listening to music. Survivors include his daughter: Vicki Parker of Spokane, WA, a son: Tom Parker of Spokane, WA, 2 sisters : Helen Hall of Waxahachie, TX and Naomi McMurry of Dalhart, TX and 1 brother: Stan Howerton of Dumas, TX. 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 9 Nieces and nephews.Preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Carol Howerton.
