Richard Leon Bridgman, 72, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in Amarillo, TX.Services were held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the First Baptist Church. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery Dalhart Texas. Richard was born in Powell, OK to Walter Dixon (Dick) and Oleta (Emanuel) Bridgman. The second of six children, Richard was known as a fixer. His ability with his hands was an asset to the farming lifestyle he grew up in, and throughout his life, he continued his farming lifestyle and his love of the earth.His love for his work was second only to the immense love he held for his family and his friends. He loved his children and grandchildren more than himself. A graduate of Ringling (OK) High School in 1958, he attended Murray State in Tishomingo, OK followed by West Texas State University in Canyon, TX. In 1963 he married Jonna Schellenberg in Dalhart, TX. Richard was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Dalhart, TX. Richard had a special relationship with the Wesley Harbert family of Hartley, in particular his cousin, Norman.Richards loves included country western music, old western movies and television shows and working on his 66 Chevelle and his dog TITAN. He is survived by his wife, Jonna, of the home, his children: John Richard (Rick) Bridgman of Dalhart, Melanie Lynn and Gerald Britten of Groom, David Walter Bridgman of Dalhart, Jared Keith and Jennifer Bridgman of Dalhart and Zachary Alan and Laura Bridgman of Panhandle.Grandchildren: Trent Britten of Groom , Jeremy Bridgman of Dalhart, Tanner Britten, of Groom, Jacob Bridgman of Dalhart, McKenna Britten of Groom, Kalob Bridgman, Kellton Bridgman, & Kai Bridgman of Dalhart, Jacey Neusch of Panhandle, Jeremy and Jennifer Britten of Abilene, Ryan Britten of Panhandle, Lori and Chance Lermon of Panhandle.Great-grandchildren: Asia Hansen, Grayson & Berkley Britten of Abilene, Taylie & Chanlie Lermon, of PanhandleBrothers: Lowell and wife, Kay Bridgman of Gainesville, TX, Joe and wife, Phyllis Bridgman, of Madill, Ok, Dewayne (Pete) and wife, Sonia Bridgman of Kingston, Oklahoma. Sisters: Lola and husband, Weldon Stubblefield of Madill, OK, Linda and Wayne Davis of Kingston, OK.Numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents.
