Rev. F. L. Sledge 81, of Dalhart died Monday, August 10, 2009 in Dalhart, TXFuneral Services were at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the Antioch Baptist Church. Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery - under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, Texas.Officiating was Rev. Sam King, Pastor of Providence Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, and Rev. W. L. Scott, Pastor of Grace of God Prison Ministry, Borger, Texas.F.L. Sledge was born July 27, 1928 in Marlin, TX. He and his wife Aslene lived in Sweetwater, TX, Lovington, NM, Hobbs, NM and Bovina, TX and several other towns. Rev. Sledge was called to Dalhart in the early 70s. Rev Sledge was pastor for over 38 years, a record for a Dalhart Church. Rev. Sledge was an honest Gentleman who holds the love and respect of any that knew him. He will be missed!Survivors include his daughters: Effie & her husband Rev. James Brady of Dalhart, TX, Patricia Sledge of Goodwell, OK, Sandra and her husband Rev. Curtis Green of Dalhart, TX, Sons: Rev. Elgin Sledge and his wife Robyn of Dalhart, TX, Rev. James Sledge of Dalhart, TX, and David Sledge and his wife Ruthie of Dalhart, TX. Stepsons: Vernon Lewis and Charles Lewis and Step-Daughters: Frankie Lewis, Glinda Lewis, Joyce Mitchell and Patricia Lewis - 20 Grandchildren and 22 Great-Grandchildren: Preceded in death by his wife: Aslene (Carroll) Sledge and wife Frankie Mae (Lewis) Sledge , his daughters Diane Bell and Mary Joe Clark , his son R.F. Sledge and stepdaughters Leanna Lewis and Hazel Rowdy
