Rev. James Brady, 72, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in Amarillo, Texas. Services were held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at New Light Baptist Church, 104 Elm Ave, Dalhart, Texas. Burial followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements provided by Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, TX. James Edward Brady was born on March 16, 1946 in Limestone County, TX to Jimmie and Nellie (Darnell) Brady. Rev. Brady was a farmer and a minister who served churches in Muleshoe & Friona, TX. On June 16, 1968 he married Effie Sledge in Hereford, TX, and in 1979 they moved to Dalhart where Rev. Brady started pastoring at the New Light Baptist Church in December of 2000 as well as working for the City of Dalhart, Vogel Brothers and JBS. Rev. Brady is survived by his wife Effie Brady of Dalhart, TX and his sons Derrick Brady and Cory Brady both of Amarillo, TX as well as a brother Sam Brady of Mineral Wells, TX, and 7 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
