Ray Grimes, 69, died Saturday, April 22, 2017 in Dalhart, Texas. Graveside Services were held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas. Officiating was by Rusty Hancock, Pastor of Lincoln Street Baptist Church arrangements under the care of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, Texas. Silas Ray Grimes was born February 22, 1948 in Vernon Texas to Silas and Bertha (Whitson) Grimes. Ray was raised in the Lubbock area and moved to Dalhart in 1968. He married Mary Vasquez on October 29, 1970 in Crosbyton, TX. Ray was a truck driver and enjoyed Sweet tea and fishing, "lots of fishing". He and Mary attended Lincoln Street Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife: Mary Grimes of Dalhart, TX, a daughter: Michelle Choate and her children- Rusty, Jasmine, Shawn, and Mitchell all of Amarillo, TX, his brothers Willie and Johnny Grimes of Dalhart, TX and his sisters Lois Grimes and Bertha Mae Davis both of Vernon, TX and Frances Bell of Lubbock, TX.
