Peggy Elliott, 68 of Dalhart, passed away on October 22, 2022. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 1:00PM on Friday, October 28, 2022 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Wilcox officiating. Interment will follow in Hartley Cemetery. Mrs. Elliott will lay in state from 5-8:00PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home.
Peggy Sue Elliott was born Thursday, November 17th in Hereford, TX to Bob and Jenny Powell. Peggy was a middle child, she attended grade school in Pringle, TX, middle school in Stinnett, Tx, and graduated from Dalhart High School. Peggy really enjoyed playing basketball in school and lettered as a basketball player. She also enjoyed spending time with her sister, Ginger, and grandmother, Nora Powell. She loved going with them to volunteer at the nursing home, which she continued later in her life here in Dalhart. Peggy was always willing to help others in any way she could. She was a great seamstress and always delighted in making things for her daughter, Ruchelle. She loved gardening, and loved every type of flower imaginable. She even loved the flowers on bindweed. Peggy worked several years at the Dalhart Consumers Hartley Station. She found so much joy visiting with the locals and the farmers that frequented the station; she also enjoyed visiting with the travelers as well, and even had travelers stop in over multiple years to see her.
Peggy married Darrell Elliott in Hereford, TX, on November 19th, 1982. They moved to Hartley, TX in 1989 and made their lifelong home in the Dallam-Hartley County Area. Their daughter, Ruchelle, was born to them in Amarillo, TX on December 3rd, 1985.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Darrell Elliott of Dalhart, & her son David Johnson, of Amarillo. Grandchildren Thad and Thayle Powers, and Kaison, Davin, Zadyn, Zyley, and Braxton Johnson. Her sister Ginger & her husband Mike Pickard of Blanchard, OK. Her niece Debbie Morgan of Dallas, TX and nephew Jim Bob Morgan of Amarillo, TX.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents Bob and Norma Powell, her daughter Stephanie Johnson, her son Randy Johnson, and her daughter Ruchelle Elliott Powers, and a brother Bobby Powell.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, recommended by her cardiologist, Marc Moreau.
