Patrick Shane Saavedra, 51, passed peacefully in his home, Monday, August 31, 2020 in Dalhart, TX. We will celebrated his life on Friday, September 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Dalhart First Baptist Church.
Shane was born Sunday, May 11, 1969 to Cheryl (Stacy) and Fred Saavedra in Las Vegas, NM. He graduated from Tucumcari, NM in 1988. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country for four years.
In 1986 he met the girl who he would chase for many years. He finally caught and married Chele Minica in 2006 where they blended and raised their boys Cody and Remington and later added sweet baby girl Weatherby. They raised their family in Dalhart, TX. Shane spent many years working for the UP Railroad but spent his last few years following his dreams as a long-range shooting instructor often working surrounded by the mountains he loved.
Shane was a talented and knowledgeable gunsmith, rifleman and teacher. He was quick witted, funny and opinionated. He was a dedicated member of Dalhart First Baptist and its security team, the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department where he found a strong brotherhood of family and friends. He fought hard for his family and gave them many tools to succeed in life. We are heartbroken that he has left us so soon but are so thankful to know he has reached the gates of glory and met his Father waiting to welcome him in saying "Welcome home son, job well done."
Shane leaves behind his wife, Michele (Minica) Saavedra, two sons; Cody Sterling Alan Alexander, Remington Colton Shane and Weatherby Jaclyn Michele Saavedra, his siblings, David Morris, Joni Horner, Stacy Saavedra, Freddy, Lindy, Britton, Deann, and Lynette and two step brothers; Doug and Andy Saul, his step father, Murray Saul, his mother and father in law, Ronnie and Diane Minica, brother in law, Alan Thompson and wife Lisa and sister in law, Wendy Tucker and husband James, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Shane is preceded in death by his parents Fred B. Saavedra and Cheryl Saul.
