Oscar Cruz, 68, died Monday, March 28, 2016 in Dalhart, TX.Prayer Vigil was held at 8:00 pm Thursday, March 31, 2016 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Dalhart, TX. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 am Friday, April 1, 2016 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Dalhart, Texas. Monsignor Michael Colwell, pastor officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery under the care of Horizon Funeral Home in Dalhart.Oscar Thomas Cruz was born January 29, 1948 in Las Playas, Mexico to Manuel and Efigenia (Fierro) Cruz. Mr. Cruz came to Dalhart in 1971 and on January 13, 1974 he married Estela Sotelo, she died in 2005.Oscar cowboyed in the Dalhart area all of his life and was a member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church. Survivors include his sons Oscar and wife Liza Cruz of Amarillo, TX and Xavier and wife Melissa Cruz of San Antonio, TX, 6 Grandchildren: Reegan, Quentin, Alexia, Alizabeth, Henzo and Holles. As well as his brothers and sisters: Olivia, Saul, Maria, Yolanda, Isela, Elisa, and Lorena.Oscar is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a brother- Hector.
