Polk, 98 died Monday, November 8, 2004 in Dalhart, Texas Services were held Thursday, November 11, 2004 at 2:00 pm at the Lincoln St. Baptist Church in Dalhart, TX - Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rusty Hancock, Minister of the Lincoln St. Baptist Church, Dalhart, TX, officiated.Opal Elizabeth Wright was born May 23, 1906 in Morgan Town, West Virginia to Joseph Otis & Mintie Susan (Jackson) Wright. She was the 3rd child of 10 children born to the Wright family. They moved to Balko, Oklahoma where her family homesteaded. Then moving to Ourey (pronounced U-Ray), Colorado where she attended school. She was living in Wheeler County, where she met Louis Polk. Opal & Louis were married in Elk City, OK August of 1926. Making Wheeler County their home, and raising their three children. They made their final move to Dalhart in 1945. Opals true Love was her family, and she loved to Travel. She is survived by two daughters: Maxine & her husband Norman Christy of Apache Junction, AZ Lois & her husband Oran Gossett of Dalhart, TX. 8 Grandchildren & 15 Great Grandchildren & 4 Great- great Grandchildren. Daughter in Law: Linda Polk of Guymon, OK & a Sister in Law: Lois Wright of Topeka, KS. preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louis, 1 Son- Bobby Lee Polk & 9 Brothers & Sisters.
