Nina Elms Harris, 88, died Friday, April 04, 2008 in Dalhart, TexasServices were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the Central United Methodist Church in Dalhart. Burial was held at 2:00 pm in Stratford Cemetery, Stratford, TX - Horizon Funeral Home - Dalhart, TXOfficiating will be Steve Patterson, Minister of the Central United Methodist Church, Dalhart, TXNina Veree Harriman was born April 27, 1919 in Cimarron County, Oklahoma to William and Francis (Roach) Harriman. Nina was raised and attended schools in Keyes, Oklahoma. In 1944 she married Robert Elms and they made their home in the Kerrick Community where they raised their children. "A life lived in the plains of Texas and Oklahoma over the last 88 years would never be described as easy. Despite the hardships of the Dust Bowl, sending family members to war, and continuing to raise two children after being widowed, Nina never missed an opportunity to lighten a situation or bring a smile to someones face. Whether it was through a dance or a practical joke, people surrounded by Nina always knew to watch out for what she would be up to next, because chances were that there would be a story they would be telling for years to come. Thankfully, we have these stories and can continue to share the joy she brought to our lives." Survivors include her Son - Joe and his wife Suzanne Elms of Asheville, NC and their sons Stephen, Andrew, Phillip and Jeffrey Elms. Her daughter Linda and husband Joe Zinser of Dalhart, TX and their children daughters: Sami and her husband Dwayne Dennis, Jennifer and her husband Jarret Bowers - Son: Will Zinser.
