Nancy Handing

Nancy Handing, age 79, of Dalhart, passed away, Sunday, August 9, 2026. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2026 at St. Anthony of Pudua Catholic Church in Dalhart with Father Tony Neusch officiating. Interment will follow at the Dalhart Memorial Park. Rosary will be recited prior to the service at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2026 at St. Anthony of Pudua Catholic Church. Arrangements are entrusted with Dalhart Funeral Home.

Nancy was born on December 4, 1946, in Amarillo, Texas, to Leo and Bertha Herring. She grew up in Amarillo and graduated from St. Mary’s. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from West Texas State University.

Nancy married Anthony Handing on July 15, 1971, in Amarillo. Following their marriage, they moved to Dalhart, where they made their home and farmed together in Hartley County.

After moving to Amarillo in 2014 she became a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Nancy was a devoted member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She loved gardening and especially enjoyed supporting and being involved in anything her family was a part of.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Joanna and her husband, Doug McGaugh; Brenda and her husband, Jed Eilers; and Deborah and her husband, Robert Vennell.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gabe (Julie), Garrett, Grant, and Gatlin McGaugh; Anthony, Leo, and Maddie Eilers; and Samuel and Lucas Vennell; and great-grandchildren, Robin and Henry.

Nancy is also survived by her sisters, Katherine Fisher of Nazareth, Sylvia Randolph of Chandler, Oklahoma, and Jeanette Herring of Amarillo; and her brothers, Martin Herring of Tyler and Kenneth Herring of Evergreen, Colorado.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Bertha Herring; her husband, Anthony Handing; her son, Michael Handing; and her sister, Dorothy Herring.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to a local Catholic parish or school or to the American Heart Association.
