Murray Thomas Saul, also known as MT, was born on July 31, 1939 in Tucumcari, NM to Jim and Florence Saul, he was the youngest of 4 boys. MT passed away peacefully on Sunday September 13, 2020 in Dalhart, TX. Murray is survived by son Douglas O Saul, (Tracee) of Clovis, NM and son Andrew Saul (Deisha) of Grady, NM. Grandchildren; Chandler Saul and Stockton Saul of Dallas, Texas and Mariah and Skylar Saul of Clovis, NM. MT was a devoted stepfather to David Morris, Joni Horner, Shane Saavedra (Decd), Stacy Saavedra and many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart and was so very proud of. Murray was a loyal supporter of the Dalhart High School Golden Wolves, he never missed tuning in to the games. On graduation from Tucumcari High School MT attended Texas A & M University. In 1958 he hired on with the Rock Island Railroad. Murray worked for the railroad for 47 years retiring in 2006. While with the railroad Murray was the union representative, it was something he truly loved. Murray was a railroader through and through and thought being a railroader was Honorable, something to be proud of, an institution of Integrity and he never dreamed of doing anything else. During Murray's lifetime he was a volunteer with the Dalhart VFD for 19 years. Murray was also an outspoken advocate of the 2nd amendment. Murray taught concealed carry classes with his stepson Shane Saavedra, he loved talking guns and gun safety. Murray loved life, loved a party, loved having a few drinks and laughing with friends and family. With Murray Saul you always knew he would "tell it to you straight", he never said what he didn't mean and if Murray had your back you knew it. Murray you will be missed, our hearts will grieve, but you gave all of us a million memories we will treasure always. Murray is pre- deceased by his wife of 28 years, Cheryl Saul. Stepson, Shane Saavedra. The family will be hosting a celebration of MT's life at his home on Wednesday, September 16th from 5:00 - 10:00pm. Cremation has already taken place.
