Murel Mac McConnell, 89, Sunday, January 4, 2009 in Amarillo, TX. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the First Baptist Church Dalhart, TX, with Rev. Rodney Weatherly, Pastor officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.Murel Moad McConnell was born August 31, 1919 in Lindsay, OK to Moad and Lucy (Spence) McConnell. In 1942 Murel enlisted in the U.S. Army . Mr. McConnell was an accomplished mechanic and had worked for Harry Keaton, Sr., Irrigation Mechanics, Chevrolet house He owned a Mechanic Shop in the 1950s for 20 Years. Murel also was a mechanic for Coronado and Stratford Feed Yards. He loved gardening and raising chickens - his gardens were always very large and bountiful. Survivors include his daughter: Karen McConnell of Dalhart, TX a sister Tressie Townley Las Vegas, NV.Mr. McConnell is preceded in death by a son: Charles David, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.In lieu of flowers- Meals on WheelsP.O.
