Monty Parr, 84, died Friday, July 19, 2013 in Amarillo, Texas Funeral Services were held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Lincoln Street Baptist Church of Dalhart with Rusty Hancock, Pastor of Lincoln Street Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery- arrangements - Horizon Funeral Home. Monty Joe Parr was born February 1, 1929 in Knox City, Texas to Carl and Mavis (Darden) Parr. Monty attended schools in Lubbock and on October 9, 1948 he married Elizabeth May Betty Reynolds. They lived in Lubbock before moving to Dalhart in 1953. Monty farmed in the Texas Panhandle and worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for 36 years, he retired in 1990. Monty was a member of Lincoln Street Baptist Church. Betty died October 18, 2008 - just 9 days after their 60th wedding anniversary. Survivors include his Son: Steve Parr and his wife Marcia of Amarillo, TX daughters Janei Fetzer and her husband Charles of Amarillo, TX and Jami Parr of Dalhart, TX sister Tommye Cate of Lubbock, TX brothers in law: R.B.
