Michael Clayton Sisneros was born on October 6, 1982 in Dalhart, Texas to John and Carmel Sisneros. He was the youngest of three siblings as well as the youngest Sisneros grandchild. He is survived by his sister Pam Phelps and niece Johnna of Dalhart, Texas. His sister Amanda and husband Abade of Clayton, New Mexico. His oldest niece and God Daughter Taysha and her husband Tead Hancock and daughter Braelynn of Walsh, Colorado. His youngest niece Tricia Sisneros and boyfriend James Egerton of Clayton, New Mexico. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Juan and Tomasita Sisneros and maternal grandparents Eno and Adelia Sanchez and many Aunts and Uncles and other family members.
Michael attended St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School from kindergarten to 8th grade. He graduated from Dalhart High School in 2001. He participated in football, basketball and track. Michael also had a love for karate. He achieved his brown belt and won many competitions. He had the honor of traveling to meet his Sensei in person.
There were many memories made traveling to all-star basketball games from Muleshoe and Shallowwater. We always had a great time hauling suburbans full of boys, in true Michael fashion, making sure everyone had a nice meal and always traveled in style. His senior year, Michael won Homecoming King. His graduation motto was, "He either amounted to something or he would become a total complete bum." He always said, "Giving and receiving went hand in hand."
Following school, Michael lived in Lubbock and soon moved onto Waco, Texas where he worked for a swimming pool company. It was there that he became friends with a Native American named Rudy Cruz. Rudy, who was Cherokee, took to Michael and gave him the name "Wolf". This named carried him through his adult life.
He worked at Big Texan Streak house and Bennigans as a bartender and server. He had a unique talent for coming up with the most exotic drinks beyond those he was trained to make. One of his fondest memories was working at the Big Texan was serving Charley Daniels. He worked later than closing that night making sure he was taken care of and going in the next day to serve him again, on his day off, by special request before leaving town. Michael and Charley both agreed that their favorite song was A Man of Constant Sorrow.
Michael volunteered for the Dalhart Fire Department earning many certificates. As if working and volunteering didnt keep him busy enough, he hopped a red eye, flew to Dallas and tested to become a Certified Contractor. He started up Lonewolf Landscaping and Irrigation where he installed sprinkler systems for many of his customers. His niece once asked how he got so smart. He told her, "If you have to pay a lot of money to test and get licensed, you better make sure you pass."
In 2009, following his dads retirement, he took over reading meters for Rita Blanca Electric where he worked for 7 years. Although his parents wished to have him retire, as did his dad, Michael had bigger dreams. In 2019, Michael posted that we went from being on top of the world living the American dream to watching his entire life falling apart. He had an escape plan in place. He heard all the horror stories of the dangerous bitter cold Bakken Oil field and decided that was exactly where he would start an oilfield career. He boarded a plain to Detroit to interview for Sanjel Oil Company and never looked back. He worked in Williston, North Dakota for 2 years. After Sanjel was bought out by Liberty Oil Company and he soon transferred to his home base in Midland, Texas. His dream of traveling became a reality. While working for Liberty, he worked all over south Texas, Louisiana, Colorado, North Dakota and Wyoming.
Michael had a special love for his Liberty family. He always had so many stories to tell. He worked many long hours, often working 100-day stretches, coming home just a couple times a year. We would often ask why he did not take his days off and he would always tell us that he loved what he did and loved his co-workers.
Michaels job, and extra hours, afforded him to travel the world and live life to the fullest. He traveled to many places including; Mexico, Spain, Transylvania, Costa Rica, Amsterdam, London, Paris, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, France, Belize, Netherlands, Barcelona, Valencia and Pakistan just to name a few. He also traveled across the states from New York to California. Some of his favorite places being: New York, California, Chicago, Colorado, Minnesota, Arizona and of course the great state of Texas. As many of you have heard the term "Merica", Michael loved the USA.
Michael also loved traveling with his family. He took his dad on many fishing trips and other adventures. One memory was traveling to California to pick up a Wolf Stove. They traveled many hours and decided no need for a room; they could sleep in the pickup at a truck stop. They stopped at the Grand Canyon along the way as well as Houser Dam and later stopping in Las Vegas to try their hand at some gambling. Michael lived without fear taking his dad on the Million Dollar Highway, literally living on the edge.
Michael was the culinary expert of the family. He always made holiday meals special and unique. He would order king crab from Alaska, lobster from Maine, turduckin and crawfish from Louisiana and of course caviar at every meal. He was never afraid to try his hand a new dish and his family would always be the first to volunteer to be his taste testers.
In 2019, Michael took his family to Grand Lake, Colorado on a Christmas Vacation of a lifetime. He rented a cabin on the lake so his parents could enjoy the scenery and watch the Moose go by as he adventured off to go snowmobiling. On the second day, a blizzard rolled in and the gang ditched him. In true Michael fashion he went on anyway. When Michael did not show up at the end of the day a search party as sent out. A woman had gone off the side of the mountain and of course his many years of working for the fire department kicked in and he went down the side to rescue her. After hearing this, the snowmobile company did not charge him the late fee, as he became the unsung hero.
Michael was very close to his family. He always made it a point to attend events for his nieces. When Taysha got married, he took 24 off, drove from Midland to Walsh, Colorado after working 24 hours and only 9.5 hours to get there in order to attend her wedding. He showed up with only the best Dom Perignon champagne and a $500 bottle of tequila to toast the bride and groom. After sleeping just a couple of hours, he left in true Wolf fashion back to the Oilfield. There is not a thing he would do for his family. The same was true of Niece Tricias graduation, rolling in in the nick of time to watch her walk across the stage and strolling off into the sunset to return to work.
Our family wishes to thank everyone for the calls, text, visits and prayers during our time of grief. We would also like to extend our prayers to his Liberty family, as we know they are grieving the same as us.
