Officiating - Monsignor Michael Colwell, Pastor - St. Anthonys of Padua Catholic Church, Dalhart, Texas.Michael Leonard Lubbers was born July 28, 1953 in Yankton, South Dakota to Leonard and Donna (Rabbe) Lubbers. Raised in Yankton, Michael graduated from Yankton High School in 1971 and then attended Yankton College before entering the US Navy where he served until 1976 in the Medical Services as a dental lab technician. On June 3rd, 1978 he married Mary Weston at St. Marys Catholic Church in Sutton, NE. Mr. Lubbers had extensive experience in retail store management and had managed several stores including stores in Clayton, NM and Dalhart, TX. He and Mary moved to Dalhart from Clayton, NM in 2006. Michael was a manager for the Dollar General Corporation until 2008 when he began working as a corrections officer at the TDCJ unit in Dalhart, TX. Michael was an Eagle Scout, Boy Scout Leader and a member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife Mary (Weston) Lubbers of Dalhart, TX, a daughter Melissa (Lubbers) Haggerty and her husband Andrew of El Paso, TX and a son Mark Lubbers of Dalhart, TX Grandchildren Allie, Erin and Liam Haggerty and 1 sister Jan (Lubbers) Cederholm and her husband Joel. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.Preceded in death by his parents.
