Melvin Reed, 83, died Thursday, December 25th, 2014 in Dalhart, TX. A come and go memorial and fellowship service was held in the Coon Memorial assisted Living Lobby from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, December 29, 2014 with Robert Ledbetter of the Hillside Church of Dalhart officiating. Melvin Reed was born on October 11, 1931 in Richmond Indiana to Harvey Nelson Reed and Hazel Florence (Bales) Reed. Melvin served in the Army National Guard where he severed overseas in Korea. He lived in Richmond Indiana for most of his life until he moved to Dalhart, Texas in 2009 when his health turned for the worst and he began living at the Coon Memorial Assisted living Center.He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Lucille Wilkerson, and two brothers Kenneth Reed, and Raymond Reed.He is survived by 1 brother Donald Reed, Daughters Chris Copley and spouse Curtis Copley of Dalhart, Lisa Guerra of Texline, and sons Michael Reed, Russell Reed, and Robert Reed all of Dalhart, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
