Melonie Jo Ivey, 36, died Friday, August 16, 2013 in Dalhart, Texas. Memorial services were held Wednesday, August 21, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at Coon Memorial Nursing Home with Monsignor Michael Colwell, pastor of Saint Anthonys of Padua Catholic Church officiating, followed by family graveside service in Memorial Park Cemetery, arrangements by Horizon Funeral Home.Melonie was born March 12, 1977 to David Jo Ivey and Lenakie (Cordova) Ivey in Wheeler, TX. She grew up in Lubbock and Dalhart, and graduated from Dalhart High School in 1995. She was a waitress and a homemaker and spent the last 13 years in Coon Memorial Nursing Home.Melonie is survived by her parents, Lena and Ronnie Melton of Dalhart; two children John and Destiny (Morris) Stewart, and Emiley Ivey of Dalhart; grandsons Beau and Luke Stewart; sisters Rita Lara and Corin Lara of Dalhart, Heather Melton of Stratford, one brother Mitchell Melton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandmother Ruth Cordova; aunts Levonne Gryder of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Jeannette Griego of Pampa, Texas and uncle Allan Cordova of Dalhart.Melonie was loved and will be missed by her family and the staff at Coon Memorial Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her father, David Ivey; brother, Miguel Lara; grandfather Mike Cordova; great-grandmother Mary Martinez.
