Melba M. Moomaw, 101, died Thursday, March 24, 2016 in Dalhart, Texas.Funeral services were held on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Lincoln Street Baptist Church with Rusty Hancock, Pastor officiating. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home.Melba M. Wishon was born December 4, 1914 in Scott County, Ill to Leonard and Wista (Wilson) Wishon. Melba was raised in Illinois. She moved from San Antonio and married Robert Moomaw in 1954. She helped in the office at Dalhart Transfer and Storage and Moomaws Furniture store and had numerous rent houses. She was a member of Lincoln Street Baptist church. She was preceded in Death by her husband Robert, her parents, her Granny Idella Wilson (Melba lived with most of her life), a brother Grant, 2 step-daughters Faye Smalley and Frances Hanna and 2 step-sons Gene Moomaw and Bud Moomaw. Melba is survived by 1 step-daughter Diana MacKenzie of Canada, 1 nephew Jerry Wishon, of Dalhart, 2 Nieces Dorothy Croft of Divernon, IL and Ruby Stevens of Dalhart.
