Mauricio Montes De Oca, Jr., age 23, of Dalhart, passed away, Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2026 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Dalhart with Father Tony Neusch officiating. Interment will follow at the Dalhart Memorial Park. Rosary will be recited 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2026 at the Dalhart Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the personal care of Dalhart Funeral Home.

Though his life was far too short, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain forever in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

Jr. was born in California and raised in Dalhart, Texas, where he grew up surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He was a loving, caring, hardworking, and protective young man who always put the people he loved before himself.

Above all, Jr. was a father. His daughter, Yelsy Rodriguez Montes de Oca, was his whole world. The love he had for his little girl was something that could be seen in everything he did. He wanted nothing more than to give her the best life possible. He worked hard, dreamed big, and made plans for their future because being her father was one of the greatest joys and accomplishments of his life.

Jr. was incredibly proud of his daughter. He wanted to protect her, provide for her, and be there for every moment he could. His love for her was unconditional and everlasting. Even though he will not be here physically to watch her grow, the love he had for her will always surround her. His daughter will carry his love, his memories, and a piece of him with her for the rest of her life.

One of Jr.’s greatest accomplishments was working hard to pay off his beloved truck, “Big Red,” and purchasing a home for his family. He was so happy and excited about this new chapter in his life. To Jr., it was more than just a truck or a house—it was proof of how hard he had worked and a place where he could build a future and make beautiful memories with his daughter and the people he loved.

Jr. loved driving around in Big Red, working on his truck, spending time with his friends, and being surrounded by family. He enjoyed the simple moments, the conversations, the laughter, and the memories made along the way. Those who knew him will remember his caring heart, his hardworking spirit, his protective nature, and the love he had for those closest to him.

Jr. leaves behind his precious daughter, Yelsy Rodriguez Montes de Oca; his parents, Mauricio Montes de Oca and Maria Ramos; his sisters, Yaleshy Ramos and Ayde Montes de Oca; and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.

There are no words that can truly express the pain of losing someone so young, especially a son, brother, father, and friend. Jr. had so much more life to live, so many more memories to make, and so many more dreams for his daughter and his family.

Although his family will forever wish they could have more time with him, they can hold onto the beautiful memories he left behind. His laughter, his smile, his love, and the way he cared for his daughter will never be forgotten.

Jr., you may no longer be here for your daughter to hold your hand, but your love will forever hold her. You may not be here to watch her grow, but she will grow knowing how deeply her daddy loved her. Every milestone, every birthday, every accomplishment, and every moment she wishes you were there, she will carry your memory in her heart.

Your daughter will always be able to look up at the sky and know that her daddy is watching over her.

You were a son who was loved, a brother who will be missed, a friend who will never be forgotten, and most importantly, a daddy whose little girl will love you forever.

Until you meet again, may you rest peacefully, Jr. Your work here may have ended far too soon, but the love you gave will never end.
