Mary was born on July 17, 1934 in Crockett County, Tennessee to Delbert and Lougenia Eaves. She grew up working in the cotton fields along with her parents, brother Jack, and sister Ruth. She graduated from Bells High School and moved to Memphis. While there, Mary met Jim Richardson and they were married on September 1, 1956. During the few years they lived in Memphis, she and Jim were able to enjoy their love for music by attending several concerts. Some of their favorite concerts that they loved to reminisce about were concerts by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis. While living in Tennessee, their daughter Carol was born. They moved to Dalhart in 1959. Except for two years in Arkansas, where their son Jimmy was born, Dalhart remained their home.
Mary started her banking career at Citizens State Bank in 1971. She retired from First Sate Bank in 2014. She loved all her customers and formed lasting friendships with the wonderful people she worked with. She was a member of First Baptist Church for 62 years, where she enjoyed sharing her love for God and growing in her relationship with the special ladies in her Sunday School Class.
Among many things that Mary loved, she was an avid Dallas cowboys and San Antonio Spurs fan. Her family enjoyed watching games alongside her and shared in her enthusiasm while rooting for these teams. Her greatest joy was watching her grandkids play ball. She didnt miss many games and her grandkids knew they always had "Days" support. Another love of hers was working in her yard and in her beautiful flower garden. Friendship was also dear to her heart, and she loved having a cup of coffee with her cherished friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Lougenia Eaves, two brothers; Eddie and Jack Eaves, and two sisters; Joan Eaves and Ruth Lawrimore. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jim Richardson of Dalhart; her daughter Carol Reynolds and husband Jeff of Dalhart; her son Jimmy Richardson and wife Kelly of Dalhart; grandson Josh Reynolds and wife Karlee, granddaughter Kelli Reed and husband Jeff; grandson Zach Richardson and wife Kristen; granddaughter Kyllie Richardson; grandson Cody Byrd and wife Carly; and eleven great-grandchildren.
