Mary Joan McCleskey, 86, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018 in Dalhart, Texas. Graveside Services were held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery officiated by Rev. Dottie Smith, Pastor of Lakeview United Methodist Church, Dalhart, TX. Under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home in Dalhart, Texas. Mary Joan Hurtt was born in Dalhart, TX on January 10, 1932 to William Edgar and Laura Maude (Webb) Hurtt. Mary attended school in Hartley until her father died. Then the family moved to Dalhart where she graduated from Dalhart High School in 1950. Mary married Joe McCleskey on May 18, 1958 in Dalhart, TX, he died December 6, 2016. Mary worked for GTE, JC Penney and Citizens State Bank as well as bookkeeper for her husbands businesses. She and Joe enjoyed traveling. Mary is survived by her sister, Martha Coble, nephews: Bill Coble and Troy Crawford; nieces: Lauraie Moore, Marti Kirk and Cindy Lloyd: several great nieces and nephews; close friends, Bobby and Willie Ruth Gordon.
