Mary McCarty, 90, died on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in Dalhart, TX. Funeral Services were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at First Baptist Church - Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas. Under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, TX. Kurtis Abla, First Baptist Church, Dalhart, TX officiated. Mary Elizabeth Thompson was born September 2, 1926 to Mack and Lulu (Hayes) Thompson in Springfield, MO. In 1942 she moved to California and worked in a parts warehouse during WWII. On February 14, 1945 she married Bill McCarty and in 1949 they moved to Dalhart. Mary was a member of the Beta Sigma Pi sorority and was woman of the year several times. Her devotion to her church included serving over 30yrs with Vacation Bible School. Mary was a commodities broker as well as a homemaker, mother, and grandmother. Mr. McCarty died in 2002. Survivors include 1 son: Tommy & his wife Dee Dee McCarty of Borden, Ind. 1 daughter: Nancy & her husband Sammy Clayton of Dalhart, TX 1 brother: Clifford Thompson of Mission, TX. 8 grandchildren Shawn & James Laurie of Mansfield, TX, Matthew & Elfie Clayton, of Houston, TX, Mary and Jon Bryant of Frisco, TX, Andy & Sandra McCarty of San Jacinto, CA Scott & Gina McCarty of Marysville, IN, Amy & Dean Allen of Borden, IN Sherry & Robert Brading of Charleston, IN Thad (T.J.) McCarty of Charleston, IN.
