Mary Elida (Vasquez) Grimes, 69, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas. There was a private family graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mary was born Monday, July 17, 1950 to Elida (Montes) and Victor Vasquez in Plainview, Texas. She was raised in and around the South Plains area with her 13 siblings. She married Ray Grimes on October 29, 1970 in Crosbyton, Texas and they settled in Dalhart, Texas. Mary was the Housekeeping Supervisor for Coon Memorial Hospital for many years until her retirement. Mary loved her 80s and 90s music, she had a fun-loving, free spirit and was always ready to go anywhere, especially BINGO she was a dedicated player. Mary is survived by her niece Michelle Vasquez, whom she raised as her own for several years, and her children; Rusty, Jasmine, Shawn and Mitchell, her 12 siblings: Isabel Muoz and husband Ray, Lupe Espindola and husband Raymond, Victoriana Sustiata, Victor Vasquez, Jr., Oscar Vasquez and wife Ann, Carmen Vasquez, Esther Vasquez, Amelia Rangel, Norma Nunez, Albert Vasquez, Alice Karl and husband Jimmy and Ricky Vasquez and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
