Mary went to join her husband Charlie, in their eternal home in heaven, to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 7, 2021. She was born on August 17, 1935, in Big Lake, TX., to Marcus and Amelia Gonzales. She was the middle child of 9 siblings and attended school in San Saba where she met her soul mate and became a farmers wife/housewife. She married the love of her life, Charlie Garza, on March 13, 1955, in Austin, TX., and were blessed with 7 children, Linda, Sylvia, Margie, Sandra, David, Lee and Tanya, 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Mary and Charlie moved from south Texas to the Hartley/Dalhart area where Charlie continued farming and she was a housewife. She loved being a housewife and mother, as anyone that knew her, could tell you. Mary was very attentive to all her children and had the luxury of not missing a beat, with raising them. She enjoyed so much, the visits from her children and grandchildren and was always looking forward to seeing them again before they even left. The grandchildren gave her the name, Wieta instead of the traditional grandma name, that she was proud of. In fact, even her childrens friends grew up calling her by this name and probably would tell you they did not know her real name was Mary. She enjoyed watching the O channel, Lifetime movies and her favorite, Dr.Phil. She loved listening to Elvis Presley music or any music from the 50s and enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking fresh from scratch - hot meals, and was especially fond of making chicken enchiladas. A devout Catholic, she and her husband were dedicated members of the St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Dalhart where they attended for many years. Mary had love for everyone that she came across and always made even complete strangers feel welcomed in her presence. She loved fiercely and was the most genuine and kindest soul you could ever meet.
