Mary Ann Carter, 87, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018 in Amarillo, Texas. Services were held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 22nd 2018 at Central United Methodist Church Dalhart. Visitation was held prior to services in the Fellowship Hall from 1:00-1:45. Burial did follow at the HC Cemetery on the ranch in Dalhart. Officiating was by Rev. Steve Patterson of Central United Methodist Church. Arrangements provided by Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, Texas. Mary Landers was born on March 12, 1930 in Colorado City, Texas to Bradford and Myra Landers. She was raised in Colorado City before moving to Strawn, TX where she graduated high school, met and married Hoss Carter on November 29, 1950. They moved to Dalhart in February of 1953 where they worked together to run the HC Cattle Company. She was member of Central United Methodist Church. She was a woman who loved her family and her home. She always made sure her house was full of warmth and welcomed everyone-no one ever left empty or unloved. Survivors include son Ike and wife, Beth Carter, Ross and wife, Shelley Carter, Daughter Kay and husband, Curt White. Grandchildren Cy and Genevieve Carter, Matt and Kathryn Carter, Ben and Liz Carter, Chase and Jamie Carter, Britt and Jeremy Fisk, Rozann and Sean Lee, Rebecca and Lance Wann, Whitney and Garrett Gilliam, Allison and Josh Hawthorne. Great grandchildren Sterling and Adair Carter, Chappell and Price Carter, Mary and Ellis Carter, Stephen Ross and Tatum Carter, Carter, Peter, John Paul, Sophie, Genevieve and Henry Fisk, Kolbe Hoss and Mary Flannery Lee, Rett, Colt and Gentry Wann, Braxton, Broox and Brylee Gilliam, Hensley and Kennedy Hawthorne. Extended family includes Craig Porter and wife, Mytra, Judd Porter and wife, Koleta, Dee Carter, James Carter and wife, Susan, Ellison Carter and wife, Renee and Karin Davidson. She is preceded in death by husband, Hoss Carter, sister, Sue Porter and brother, Brad Landers.
