Marvin "Shorty" Jones, 78, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 in Dalhart, TX.Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Dalhart. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart, TX Officiating was Rev. Rodney Weatherly, Pastor - First Baptist Church, Dalhart, Texas.Marvin A. Shorty Jones was born March 21, 1931 in Clayton, NM to Fred and Myrtle (Height) Jones. He was raised on farms and ranches in the Texline and Clayton area. After graduation from Clayton High School he served in the US army stationed in Germany. On March 29, 1956 Marvin was joined in marriage to Nila Roberson in Clovis, New Mexico. In 1966 they moved to Dalhart. Marvin was employed as operations manager for Rita Blanca Electric until his retirement. He loved being with his grand and great grandchildren, and going to coffee with long time friends. He is survived by his Sons Altus Jones and his wife Cheryl of Dalhart, TX, Jeromie Jones and his wife Robin of Hartley, TX a Daughter Bonnie Dorsett and husband Jerry of Dalhart, TX and a sister Joyce McCollum of Roswell, New Mexico.
