Marie G. Keast, 91, died Sunday May 27, 2012 in Dalhart, TXFuneral Services were held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Central United Methodist Church. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Horizon Funeral Home, Dalhart, TX.Officiating was Steve Patterson, Pastor, Central United Methodist Church.Marie was born on September 16, 1920, in Barber County, Kansas, to G.M. and Alice Groendycke. She graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and began working in Wichita, Kansas. There she met and married Joe Dyckeman Keast, and the two were married on October 19, 1944. Joe preceded her in death on February 14, 1997. Following the war, Marie and Joe established their home in Dalhart. Marie was active in many community organizations including the American Heart Association, the Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels, the Coon Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and Central United Methodist Church. Marie is survived by daughter, Suzi Shepard; son, David Keast and his wife, Mary Jane; and grandchildren Annie Landis Stewart and her husband Josh, John Keast Shepard, Emily Katherine Keast, and Julia Marie Keast. The family suggests memorials be made to the Time to Harvest building fund at Central United Methodist Church, 517 Rock Island Avenue, Dalhart, Texas 79022, or the Dalhart Senior Citizens Association, 610 Denrock, Dalhart, Texas 79022.
