Maria Elena Salazar Meraz, 83, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018 in Dumas, Texas.
Funeral Service were held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Newlife Church in Dalhart, Texas burial did to follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart, TX.
Maria Elena Salazar was born on Wednesday, September 19, 1934 in Santa Eulalia Chihuahua Mexico to Jesus Casimiro Salazar & Maria De Los Angeles Alvidres. Maria married Fernando Meraz in 1975.
Maria enjoyed Cooking, Dancing, Gardening, she received yard of the month numerous times, flowers, Novellas, Bingo, Garage Sales and Thrift Shopping, Shoes, Fashion, and Sewing. Maria was employed many places in Dalhart through the years, retiring from the Dalhart Country Club as a cook in 2001. Maria also, did tailoring and seam-stressing for many years. Maria was a former member of Lincoln Street Baptist Church and previously Primera Iglesia Bautista.
Maria was loved by many special Nurses/CNAs/Staff at Great Plains Nursing facility in Dumas. Maria enjoyed participating in the activities and having her nails painted every week. She especially enjoyed playing Bingo and eating her meals with her friends. She made lots of friends there and touched many lives as they touched hers.
Maria is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Fernando Meraz, 8 children- Maria De Jesus Terrazaz (Manuel), Chihuahua, Mexico, Jorge Alberto Alvarez Salazar, Leon, Mexico, Maria Guadalupe Alvarez Salazar (Jorge), Leon, Mexico, Rogelio Alvaraez Salazar (Refugio), Chihuahua, Mexico, Carlos Garza Jr. (Beth), Williamsburg, Virginia, Raul Garza (Theresa), Dalhart, Texas, Victor Manuel Garza, (Amanda), Dalhart, Texas, Janie Elena Sneller (Jeff), Dalhart, Texas, 2 siblings - Manuel Salazar Alvidrez, Chihuahua, Mexico, Martha Lorenza Salazar Alvidrez, Juarez, Mexico, 28 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren, 2 step daughters- Isela Gonzalez, Wichita Falls, Texas, Imelda Reyes, Wichita Falls, Texas and many special nieces and nephews.
Maria is Preceeded in death by her Parents, 3 sisters, 4 brothers and 1 granddaughter- Ariel Naomi Lucero.
