IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margie June
Cleavinger
May 11, 1930 – February 13, 2025
Margie June Cleavinger, age 94, passed away Thursday, February 13th, 2025, at Coon Memorial Hospital.
Margie was born in Dalhart on May 11, 1930. She was the daughter of the late George R. and Bertha Hook and was the 6th of seven children. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to raising her children and giving them a strong foundation and a good home. Margie had attended the Assembly of God church.
Most of her life Margie was a total homebody. She watched every professional tennis match on TV and knew the name of every competitor. She watched every Dallas cowboy game on TV, coaching and criticizing the players from her armchair.
Margie was pleasant, often smiling and giggling. She had quite the sense of humor. She loved to joke around and entertain others, so they laughed with her.
However, Margie's smiling and joking vanished while she played dominoes. She was fiercely competitive and won pretty much every game she insisted everyone play with her.
When Margie moved into her beautiful home at Legacy Assisted Living, she walked the halls many times daily admiring the changing art and all the books in the library. She participated in many activities. Learning to sing gospel hymns brought her great joy.
In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Louis P. Cleavinger and her six siblings. Margie is survived by her son Arthur Cleavinger of Dalhart, her daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Richard Perry and Nancy and Bob Meyer all of Washington; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service honoring Margie's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday February 17th at Memorial Park cemetery in Dalhart.
Contributions may be made to any charity of one's choice in her memory.
